Getting more bang for your buck from raising sheep and cattle on your land will be the focus of a free workshop in Camden next week.
Greater Sydney Local Land Services District (GSLLS) veterinarian Dr Lisa Goodchild said livestock owners would get practical, no frills tips on raising happier, healthier and more profitable sheep and cattle in the ever changing Greater Sydney landscape.
“This is not about telling livestock producers how to suck eggs,” Dr Goodchild said.
“This is about giving them simple advice that can be easily applied on their farm including how to identify common livestock diseases that can impact on productivity and meat quality and ultimately market price.
“International award winning butcher Paul Brady from Tender Gourmet Butchery will also give a demonstration of the best meat cuts as well as cooking tips to give you that competitive edge.”
Dr Goodchild said the workshop would be very hands on.
“From handling livestock and performing basic health checks this workshop offers something for everyone from those interested in running cattle and sheep for commercial gain and the experienced producers,” she said.
Fast facts on livestock in the Macarthur region:
