When you see things that look like a miracle they make you shake your head for a long time afterwards.
Sometimes it’s even when nobody was hurt, as was the case when this semitrailer crashed through the timber fence of the acreage property on the corner of Hansens Road and Leumeah Road at Leumeah.
I drove past it on the way home just a few minutes ago and stopped to find out if anyone had been hurt.
Incredibly, nobody was seriously hurt but emergency services have been called and were on their way when I got back in my car and headed home.
It’s really incredible that I sit here writing this but still shaking my head about it.
I am not saying it was a miracle that nobody was killed, but it was amazing nonetheless that the semi, which was travelling east along Leumeah Road and was trying to turn left into Hansens Road, did not hit a car travelling south on Hansens Road.
That’s where I was and headed south but thankfully by the time I reached the spot the accident had already taken place.
But I couldn’t help thinking that I know so many people who use that section of Hansens Road, including my wife on her way home from work.
It looks like the truck missed the bend, crossed the road and smashed through the timber fence, missing a power pole by centimetres, as one of my photos shows.
There’s usually a horse inside that property, so that was another bit of luck that it must have been in another part of the property when the truck driver smashed into a bunch of trees just inside the fence.
I am really happy that nobody was seriously hurt in the incident but I still can’t help shaking my head about it.
It really shows how flimsy life can be.
It is still blocked
