From AFL star to business leader: Jamie McLaughlin, right, with his wife, Georgie and his parents, John and Jan, on their 50th wedding anniversary last year.

Our region has produced many outstanding sportsmen and women and one who’s right at the top of that pile is Jamie McLaughlin.

He was still a schoolboy at Camden High School when he played in Campbelltown’s first ever Sydney AFL premiership win in 1986.

Young Jamie McLaughlin blitzed them that day and was judged best on ground.

He went on to play in the 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1994 and 1995 Sydney AFL grand finals for the mighty Campbelltown Blues and won the best and fairest player honour four times.

They were the golden years for our local AFL club and the very talented Jamie McLaughlin personified the spirit of the Campbelltown Blues.

He represented NSW a number of times as a senior player, including in the Teal Cup in Perth in 1985.

As a 16 year old, McLaughlin was put on the Swans list as a senior player and played eight reserve grade games with them that year.

When Jamie McLaughlin started turning his attention to developing a career in business he approached it like he did footy as a champion player.

He and his wife Georgie Kennett, whom he met when they both attended Camden High School, purchased a small skip business in the 1990s and have built it into a market leader in waste management.

They have established an industry best practice recycling facility at Ingleburn – Skipmaster Waste Management – and have branched out to become a leading demolition and site remediation business.

Skipmaster Waste Management were engaged to remediate sites such as Holsworthy Military Base and the Atomic Energy site at Lucas Heights.

They have also branched out to a successful cattle breeding property at Picton, and are developing a new housing estate at Vault Hill, also at Picton.

“We have become a market leader by being ethical and by our commitment to industry best practice, including occupational health and safety,’’ says Jamie McLaughlin.

“We provide innovative and cost effective waste management strategies and a level of customer service that sets us apart from our competitors.’’

Skipmaster are proud to be an ethical company that does not cut corners, he says.

“We have made a significant investment to ensure that as much recyclable material as possible is diverted from landfill and is re-used,’’ says Jamie.

“We protect the environment, maintain personalised and reliable service, provide a safe and rewarding workplace and promote a spirit of partnership with customers.’’

Skipmaster Waste Management services include waste management consultancy, transport of waste, on site storage equipment, waste collection and responsible waste disposal.

And of course, skips made on site at Ingleburn and with a size to suit most needs.

Skipmaster Waste Management skip bins vary from two metres right up to a gigantic 25 metres – most with rear opening doors.

Their fast and reliable service will have a bin delivered to your site as quickly as Jamie McLaughlin used to sidestep defenders when he played AFL for the Campbelltown Blues all those years ago.

Enquiries and bookings: call 1300 662 114 or visit their website here.
