A tough battle is on the cards when the Western Sydney Wanderers clash with FC Seoul in their second AFC Champions League group stage match at Campbelltown Sports Stadium a week from today next Tuesday, April 11.
The AFC Champions League brings together the best football teams and talent from throughout Asia, and the Wanderers became the first Australian team to win the competition in 2014.
The match against FC Seoul is a must-win for the Wanderers, who defeated the 2016 Korean League Championship winners 3-2 in the away leg of the competition in Seoul earlier this month.
The Wanderers are playing their three group stage games in Campbelltown this season, including their face-off with Japanese football giants, the Urawa Red Diamonds in February, and against Shanghai SIPG on Wednesday, May 10.
Shanghai SIPG is one of China’s biggest clubs, with the world’s highest paid football player, Brazil’s Oscar, who earns a whopping $450,000 per week.
He’s moved from Chelsea to Shanghai, and now he is coming to Campbelltown.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said he was excited about the calibre of players the competition was attracting, and encouraged fans to turn out to see world-class football live, right on their doorstep.
“The FC Seoul match is during the school holidays, making it an excellent opportunity for a family night out with the kids, and a night they’ll remember with the electric atmosphere of live football and the chance to watch international players in action,” he said.

The Wanderers will go into next Tuesday’s clash full of confidence after their third win in a row in the A-League on the weekend.
Off the field, yesterday the Wanderers became only the second Club in A-League history to reach 20,000 members.
The Wanderers versus FC Seoul match kicks off at 8pm next Tuesday, with gates opening at 6.30pm.
Ticket prices for individual matches range from juniors $20.31 to adults $34.08 (red reserved seating), juniors $16.23 to adults $27.45 (black reserved seating), and juniors $12.16 to adults $22.86 (general admission). Two-match passes are also available, starting at $33.55 for adults.
