Jobs, transport and education in South West Sydney are the key priorities for the state opposition in NSW.
Labor leader Luke Foley will discuss his party’s vision for our region when he speaks at a major business luncheon later this month.
The Combined Macarthur Chambers of Commerce (Ingleburn, Campbelltown, Narellan, and Camden) will be hosting the NSW Opposition Leader as its special guest speaker on Friday, July 29.
Wests Leagues Club, Leumeah will be the venue for the luncheon, which will be on between noon and 2pm.
“This is a great opportunity to hear about the NSW Labor Party’s vision for the South West Sydney region, and is not to be missed,’’ said a spokesman for the organisers of the luncheon.
Mr Foley became leader in 2015 and led the Labor party at that year’s NSW elections.
He lost the election but Labor regained some ground, winning back 14 seats off the Baird Government.
Luke Foley was born in 1970 and grew up in Sydney with his mother and sister.
He joined the Labor Party in 1988 and entered the Legislative Council of NSW in 2010 where he served as Leader of the Opposition in the NSW Legislative Council.
During his time in the NSW Legislative Council Mr Foley served in the shadow portfolios of Special Minister of State in 2011; Water in 2011-12; Energy in 2011-12; Planning in 2012-2015 and the Environment and Climate Change during 2011-2015.
Job as telemarketer before politics
Before entering Parliament Luke Foley worked as a telemarketer for the Guide Dog Association of NSW and an organiser for the Australian Services Union of NSW.
He also served as Secretary of the Australian Services Union of NSW from 2000 to 2003 before becoming Assistant General Secretary of the Australian Labor Party (NSW Branch) from 2003 to 2010.
Mr Foley is married to Edel and they have three young children, Aoife, Niamh and Patrick.
He is a keen reader and student of history and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of NSW.
