Golfers took aim under sunny skies last Friday to help raise nearly $6,000 for Macarthur and Wingecarribee youth charity, Youth Solutions.
The sell-out Youth Solutions Annual Charity Golf Day was held at Campbelltown Golf Club with 60 players taking part.
But this was a golf day with a difference.
Yes, there was golf, but also much more.
In between golfing the players took part in Youth Solutions-specific activities, giving them a taste of what Youth Solutions’ work is all about.
The players were challenged to identify standard drink amounts and tried their hand at the fatal-vision goggles, which simulate the vision of a person affected by alcohol.
They also got involved with Youth Solutions’ tobacco campaign, #whyichoose, by chalking up messages of advice to young people about why it is important to make safer, positive choices about tobacco smoking.
Youth Solutions chief executive officer Geraldine Dean was thrilled with the outcome of the event and thanked those who took part and supported the golf day.
“The Youth Solutions board, fundraising committee and team are so pleased with the result of this year’s golf day,’’ Ms Dean said.
“Not only did the event raise an incredible $6,000, but it also gave us a great opportunity to connect with some of our fantastic supporters.
“Thank you everyone who supported the event and helped to make it such a success. Not only did we have a great turnout, we also had many organisations donating fantastic prizes for the event.
“I would particularly like to say a special thank you the event hole sponsors: Bradcorp, Grace Information and Records Management – Sydney, MayTek IT Solutions, McGrath Camden/Picton, Profit Advantage Group, Pereira Realty Group, Roosters Traffic Control and TLD Logistics. We are very grateful for the support we received for this event.
“The funds raised from this event will have an incredible impact on our service and will help Youth Solutions to reach more young people with our drug and alcohol education and health promotion projects.”
