After falling one match short of national glory last year, three Macarthur workmates are heading to Brisbane with unfinished business, determined to go one better at the Australia and New Zealand’s largest indoor golf championship next month.

Shane Zielonka, Andrew Robinson and Scott Green [pictured above] will represent NSW yet again against teams from as far as Christchurch, Perth and Darwin after qualifying for the 14th annual X-League Championship for the second consecutive year.

Colleagues for the last decade, the Macarthur workmates will descend on Brisbane alongside school teachers, construction workers and even the manager of a crocodile farm to determine which region is home to this year’s best indoor golfers.

“We know what it takes to make a grand final now and that experience has only made us hungrier,’’ Shane said.

“Placing second last year was an incredible achievement, but it also left us wondering what if?

“We’ve really carried that motivation with us all season, so we’re not travelling to Brisbane just hoping to have a good weekend – we genuinely believe we’ve got what it takes to go one better this year.’’

The 2026 X-League Championship will take place at X-Golf South Bank at 275 Grey Street on August 7-8.

The winning team will take home $20,000 worth of prizes including a golf trip to Barnbougle Dunes Golf Links in Tasmania.

The 2026 Championship caps off a season involving more than 1700 players, culminating in a Trans-Tasman showdown of every day golfers, highlighting the growing appeal of team-based, technology-powered golf that anyone can access.
