Bensley Road Reserve, home to one of one of Campbelltown’s largest sporting groups, Gunners Soccer Club, now boasts an impressive brand new amenities facility.
On the weekend, the Mayor of Campbelltown, Councillor Darcy Lound, joined Gunners Soccer Club president Gary Phillips, club members and the local community to officially open the new facility and unveil a commemorative plaque at the reserve located in Macquarie Fields.
The $2.55 million upgrade has delivered a significantly expanded clubhouse featuring new changerooms, referees room, meeting room, barbecue area, canteen facilities, storage rooms and an outdoor spectator area, alongside new paving and landscaping at the reserve entrance.
Mayor Darcy Lound said the completed project would provide long-term benefits for the growing Gunners Soccer Club.
“Gunners is one of Campbelltown’s biggest sporting clubs, supporting a large number of junior and senior players from Macquarie Fields and surrounding suburbs,” Cr Lound said.
“This upgrade delivers modern, high-quality facilities that will support the club’s continued growth and provide a more welcoming and accessible environment for players, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators.”
The upgrade is one of many undertaken across Campbelltown in the past 10 years to modernise amenities facilities that are part of playing fields.
