New schools at Menangle Park and Austral will be funded from $9.2 billion to be included in the 2026-27 NSW state budget for school infrastructure over the next four years.
Member for Campbelltown and parliamentary secretary for education and early learning Greg Warren welcomed the education spending earmarked for South West Sydney.
“For too long we saw nothing but houses built and new communities not getting the infrastructure, schools and essential services that they need to build a community,’’ he said.
“That stopped at the last election and I’m proud to be part of the government that is investing in local families and new communities with a brand-new public primary school for our growing region and community in Menangle.
“This is an example of how it is essential that we complement urban population growth with investment in schools, education and all other infrastructur for local families in growing areas across Campbelltown, and South West Sydney.’’
The new primary school at Menangle Park will include a co-located public early learning facility.
In South West Sydney, the new and upgraded schools will add new permanent capacity for more than 13,500 public school students, with 650 modern classrooms replacing more than 100 ageing demountables.
The 2026-27 Budget will include funding for:
- Austral – new high school
- Austral South – new primary school with co-located public early learning
- East Cobbitty – new primary school with co-located public early learning
- Menangle Park – new primary school with co-located public early learning
