The latest off season signing of Macarthur Bulls FC, 23 year old goalkeeper James Hilton, is originally from Camden.
Hilton returns to South West Sydney from Auckland FC, where he served as the club’s reserve goalkeeper and made two appearances during their Championship-winning 2025/26 campaign.
Before that, Hilton enjoyed a successful stint with Marconi Stallions, making 88 appearances across the NPL NSW and Australian Championship competitions.
His outstanding performances were recognised in 2025 when he was named the NPL NSW men’s goalkeeper of the year.
Hilton recorded 28 clean sheets at the Stallions, establishing himself as one of the competition’s most reliable shot-stoppers.
He now joins the Bulls’ goalkeeping ranks alongside incumbent Alexander Robinson.
Hilton was born in the UK, coming to Australia at the age of eight.
In his early days in football he played for Mounties Wanderers and Macarthur Rams.
“I’m so grateful to sign with the Bulls and I’m really excited to meet the fans and make some great memories together,” he said.
“As soon as Macarthur came in for me it was a no-brainer to say yes.
“To have the honour of representing my hometown is a privilege not many footballers get to experience so it was an easy decision for me.’’
In other club news, the Bulls have announced the return of defender Jonathan ‘Aspro’ Aspropotamitis after his stint with K League 1 side Pohang Steelers, where he made 26 appearances and helped the club secure the Korean FA Cup.
Before his move to South Korea, he was an important part of the Bulls’ squad, making 40 appearances for the club and playing a key role in its Australia Cup triumph during the 2023/24 season.
‘Aspro’ brings valuable leadership, quality and depth to the Bulls’ backline.
In another off season move, Macarthur Bulls FC have signed forward Jing Reec.
He joins the Bulls from the Melbourne Victory and brings valuable experience from both the A-League and overseas, having previously featured for the Central Coast Mariners FC and Danish Superliga side AGF.
The versatile attacker made 37 appearances across all competitions during Melbourne Victory’s 2025/26 campaign and was also part of the Mariners’ treble-winning squad in 2023/24.
Forward Ben Gibson will also be wearing Bulls colours next season after signing for the club.
The 22-year-old joins the Bulls from Newcastle Jets FC and arrives with strong attacking credentials.
He played an important role in the Jets’ successful 2025/26 campaign, scoring four goals and helping the club secure the A-League men premiership.
Gibson has also represented Australia at international level, earning selection in the Australian U23s squad.
