New data Australians can now access over 3,400 Medicare bulk billing practices across the country, including 41 in Macarthur.
Prior to the Federal Labor Government’s investment, only 26 of these bulk billed.
This means that 91 percent of all GP clinics in Macarthur are bulk billing practices, higher than the NSW rate of 85.3 percent.
This means more accessible and affordable healthcare outcomes for our region, says Dr Mike Freelander, the member for Macarthur.
“Labor is delivering more bulk billing to Macarthur, with 91 percent of Macarthur GP clinics now bulk billing, which is an amazing outcome,’’ he says.
“I entered Parliament to improve healthcare access and affordability, and I am proud to say that this is what our Labor Government is doing.
“Our record investment to strengthen Medicare has already been a game changer with more practices switching to bulk billing since November 1.
“All you need is your Medicare card, not your credit card,” Dr Freelander said.
Health Minister Mark Butler said more Australians were finding it easier to find a bulk billing doctor right across the country, including in Macarthur.
“Doctors and practices are moving back to bulk billing because it works for patients and it works for their practices.
“Bulk billing is the beating heart of Medicare and that’s what our government is delivering.”
