To celebrate International Day for People with Disability, the Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre will provide the community with a special screening of The Blind Sea on December 3.
The Blind Sea is an award winning, locally made documentary by Brick Studios that follows Australian Paralympian and four time world champion blind surfer Matt Formston as he pushes his limits to take on the monster waves of Nazaré, Portugal.
Diagnosed with Macular Dystrophy at age five, Matt has just three percent vision remaining, yet he has become one of the greatest blind surfers in the world.
The film shares his inspiring story of resilience, courage, and the power of possibility, with insights from surfing legends including Layne Beachley, Sam Bloom, Joel Parkinson, Lucas Chianca, and Dylan Longbottom.

The December 3 screening at the Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre is made possible by Brick Studios, a local production company committed to sharing stories that inspire, excite, and engage the community.
As well as their involvement with The Blind Sea, the Brick Studios gang were also behind Christmess, shot around Campbelltown mostly.
Following the film, attendees will have the unique opportunity to join a Q&A with Brick Studios filmmakers Daniel and Erin Fenech.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate achievement, resilience, and diversity,’’ says Raina Savage, venue manager at the Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre.
“Matt’s story is truly inspirational, and we’re excited to host this complimentary screening and conversation as part of International Day for People with Disability.”
The screening is free, with tickets essential due to limited capacity.
