Tragedy on our roads: infant dies, child, 5, in serious condition

An infant has died, and a child is in a serious condition following a tragic incident near Campbelltown this afternoon.

Police said that about 3.30pm today, (Monday), emergency services were called to Brookfield Road, Minto, after reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended and located a five-month-old infant and five-year-old child in a serious condition after they were hit by a car.

Police commenced CPR on the infant, before she was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, she died at the scene.

The five-year-old school child was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition.

The 35-year-old driver was uninjured. A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the crash.
