Lennox Fielding, the eight year old go-kart whiz kid from Cobbitty, is within sight of the Dunlop Kart Stars state championship after winning round 5 held in Orange last weekend.
Thanks to his victory in the novice category, Lennox is just eight points from the championship lead.
His connections say the youngster is poised to maintain his championship charge when the series resumes at Round 6 on September 14 at Eastern Creek – his home track.
The young racer’s dominant weekend has catapulted him to second place in the overall championship standings, sitting just 8 points behind the series leader with two rounds remaining.
Fielding’s Round 5 triumph at the Orange Kart Club was his second victory of the 2025 season, following his record breaking win at the championship opener in Lithgow in February.
Throughout the weekend at Orange Kart Club, Lennox demonstrated exceptional race craft and consistency across all sessions, recording speeds of up to 85 km/hr.
His performance in the heats positioned him perfectly for the final, where he showcased the same determination and skill that marked his championship debut earlier this year.
“To see Lennox racing at such high speeds and competing at this level at just 8 years old is both thrilling and nerve-wracking as a mum,’’ said Tania Fielding, Lennox’s mother.
“His dedication to training and his natural racing instincts continue to amaze us. Being so close to the championship lead shows just how far he’s come in such a short time.’’
The young racer is supported by Rush Performance, marking another significant step in his karting journey as he challenges for the championship title.
The championship battle now intensifies heading into the final two rounds, with Lennox positioned as a serious title contender.
His consistency throughout the series including his Round 1 victory, and now his Round 5 triumph, demonstrates the young Macarthur racer could have what it takes to take out the championship.
