Off-duty police officer to face court over drink driving charge

An off-duty police officer has been charged with high range drink driving following a crash near Liverpool on Saturday night.

The crash occurred around 10.35pm, at the intersection of William Buckley Drive and Stonequarry Way, Carnes Hill.

Police officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol responded to the incident, arriving on the scene to find a Toyota Corolla with a street sign wedged between the wheel and guard.

The driver, a 24-year-old man – an off-duty police constable attached to a South West Metropolitan Region command – was breath tested and allegedly returned a positive result.

He was then arrested and taken to Green Valley Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis and allegedly returned a reading of 0.204.

The 24-year-old was charged with driving with high range PCA and had his licence suspended.

He is due to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday, August 27.

The man is not currently in the workplace and his employment status is under review.
