Wollondilly Shire residents will find it easier than ever to cash in their eligible bottles and cans with a new Return and Earn machine now open at Metro Petroleum Appin.
The new machine is the fourth return point in the Wollondilly local government area, providing locals with even more convenient access to redeem their eligible bottles and cans for the 10c refund.
Since the Return and Earn scheme began, the Wollondilly community has returned more than 51 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points.
Users of the new machine at Metro Petroleum Appin can print a voucher for the refund amount which can be redeemed for cash, or they can opt for an e-voucher or payment directly into their bank account or PayPal using the Return and Earn app.
Locals can also choose to donate their refund from over 300 donation partners listed on the Return and Earn app, including Rotary Club Wollondilly or Wollondilly Riding for the Disabled Australia at Tahmoor.
Or they can support the statewide Return and Earn donation appeal in support of Little Wings, providing free air and ground transport for seriously ill children from regional and remote areas across NSW.
The new Return and Earn machine is in the Metro Petroleum Appin carpark at 38 Appin Road, Appin. Opening hours are 8am to 7pm daily.
Local MP Greg Warren – Member for Campbelltown – has given the thumbs up to the new Return and Earn machine.
“The community in the Wollondilly Shire Council area are already enthusiastic recyclers, having returned more than 51.3 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,’’ he said.
“I encourage everyone to make Return and Earn a part of their regular recycling routine. Together we can all contribute to a more sustainable future, where the materials that our bottles, cans and cartons are made of are kept in use and out of landfill.
“Not only does this help the environment, it’s also a great way to get a bit of extra cash in your pocket,” Mr Warren said.
More than 11.8 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 640 return points across NSW since Return and Earn started in 2017, resulting in over $1 billion in container refunds flowing back to the community.
