It may be called Feast, but this annual celebration of Campbelltown’s thriving multicultural community offers much more than food from every corner of the world.
Food is certainly at the centre of Feast and will be again when it returns to Redfern Park in Minto on Saturday, September 21.
But sharing centre stage, so to speak, will be music and dance, as well as one of the popular features from last year’s event, a parade of more than 40 flags representing the main cultures of the Campbelltown local government area.
“Feast is our biggest multicultural celebration of the year and a chance to directly experience the different cultures and customs that exist in Campbelltown,” says Mayor George Greiss.
“It was fantastic to see the community come together and support this celebration last year, and I look forward to seeing even more cultures represented by our community at this year’s event,” he said
Feast 2024 will start at 2pm and continue through to 9pm.
If you plan to attend and stay for a while it is advisable to bring picnic blankets and chairs.
Live performances along with cooking demonstrations will be taking place all day across the Feast site.
The variety of cultural stage performances will include the Sydney Hills Garden Shire Chinese Folk Art Inc group, pictured above.
Families will again be offered the chance to participate in the popular Kids Activity Trail and win one of three prizes up for grabs.
Kids’ Activity Trail stations include henna art and tattoos by Vibrant Henna Art, matcha, origami and sushi by ABC Sitters, Bangladesh craft workshop by Bangla Hub and Arabic drumming workshop by School Music Incursions
