Campbelltown Harlequins had a number of personnel changes to their line-up heading into a match up with bottom of the table Vikings on the weekend, but that didn’t stop them from going on a romp, reports our rugby correspondent ANDREW CHOICE.
The Quinnies didn’t skip a beat as they notched their ninth win of the season with a 111-0 victory in front of their fans at Campbelltown Showground.
The hapless Vikings had no answer in the first half to the Harlequin machine, with the home side leading 44 – 0 at the break off the back of six tries.
After the break, a battered but gallant Vikings kept toiling away.
Unfortunately for them the Harlequins not only kept them at bay but went up to another level as they racked up a total of 19 tries for the match.
Centre AidenTuilaepa grabbed four of them, while fullback Joe Mar bagged a total of 31 points for the day.
This season has been a real struggle for Vikings and Saturday’s result would not have helped their plight as they gave a ruthless home side too many opportunities.
Earlier in the day the Harlequins second grade recorded a 28-0 win to stay in touch with the final four, but has its work cut out to make the 2024 finals.
The women’s side had a bye to remain on top of the division B table.
Next week the Quins are away to Tech Tahs.
The junior rugby competition also resumes after the mid year school beak.
