Upgrades to local parks, community facilities and infrastructure improvements alongside major projects are part of a $270 million Campbelltown Council for the next 12 months.
Mayor George Greiss says council’s delivery program and operational plan will fund an expansive program of improvements to public spaces.
It would also ensure council’s capacity to deliver the day-to-day services expected by residents.
The budget includes a $53.2 million investment in capital works across Campbelltown as well as investment in services such as the city cleansing program to help build civic pride.
“There are many exciting plans in this budget, including the planning and design of more than 20 projects as part of the Western Sydney infrastructure grants program, as well as the revitalisation of Nepean River Reserve as a swim site,” Cr Greiss said.
“One of our most significant projects will be the construction and completion of the library relocation project, bringing a major investment and economic driver back into the Campbelltown CBD as part of our ongoing vision for the revitalisation of the Queen Street precinct,” he said.
“The coming year will also be the first in operation for the Campbelltown Billabong Parklands, a fantastic attraction and recreation space for our city that will be hosting a range of programs and events to celebrate its opening and ensure its ongoing activation year-round.”
Highlights of the delivery program (2022-26) and operational plan (2024-25) include:
- New and upgraded roads and bridges.
- Upgrades to parks, open spaces and playgrounds including Simmos Beach and a new playground in Glenfield.
- Community facility enhancements including upgrades at Bob Prenter Reserve, Lynwood Park, Community Recycling Centre and the Campbelltown Athletics Centre.
- Plant, fleet and equipment
- Planning and design of more than 20 social infrastructure projects under the Western Sydney infrastructure grants program – including the Campbelltown Arts Centre (pictured above) expansion, St Helens Park Youth Space, a Mountain Bike Park, Nature Playspace and Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre upgrades.
- Delivery of the new library location in Queen Street.
- Nepean River Reserve revitalisation and [Menangle] swim site activation project.
- Progression of the city centre planning proposal.
- Completion of the Farrow Road (Campbelltown Station) commuter car park.
- Funding for a diverse program of community and cultural events, including Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, Chill Fest Winter Festival, FEAST Campbelltown and Ingleburn Alive.
