Campbelltown mayor George Greiss says the next council budget takes a long term view to benefit future generations of residents.
The delivery program (2022-26) and operational plan (2024-25) are now on exhibition and taking feedback from residents and businesses.
Included in the $270 million budget are infrastructure projects, services, works programs, events and social programs and other activities that Campbelltown Council will deliver in the 2024-25 financial year.
“This year’s budget continues the delivery of our vision for a revitalised city and investing in Campbelltown’s growing community,” says Mayor Greiss.
“Over the next year, we’ll be delivering important infrastructure projects including roads, sporting facilities, town centre revitalisation projects and community facilities while also keeping an eye on the future and undertaking significant planning work to benefit the next generation of our city,” he said.
“Projects such as the City Centre Planning Proposal will seek to attract more investment and revitalisation into our CBD and work in tandem with infrastructure projects such as the library relocation project, to bring economic growth into the heart of our city,” Mayor Greiss said.
“To complement these projects and initiatives to activate our city centres, we’re also continuing our Renew on Q program to support small business and fill vacant shops, and kicking off the planning and design phases of transformation projects in Ingleburn, Campbelltown and Glenfield.’’
Highlights of the delivery program and operational plan include:
- New and upgraded roads and bridges
- Upgrades to parks, open spaces and playgrounds, including Simmos Beach and a new playground in Glenfield
- Community facility enhancements including upgrades at Bob Prenter Reserve, Lynwood Park, Community Recycling Centre and the Campbelltown Athletics Centre.
- Planning and design of more than 20 social infrastructure projects under the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program, including the Campbelltown Arts Centre expansion, a St Helens Park Youth Space, a Mountain Bike Park, Nature Playspace and Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre upgrades.
- Delivery of the new library location in Queen Street.
- Nepean River Reserve revitalisation and swim site activation project.
- Progression of the City Centre Planning Proposal.
- Completion of the Farrow Road (Campbelltown Station) commuter car park.
