Listen up, men of Campbelltown: Mherv is coming to town and he could save your life.
Mherv is a mobile health check up clinic for men, although anyone who wants to get a free check up is welcome to pop in.
The clinic, which has been organised by Rotary Club of Campbelltown, will be in the centre of Campbelltown over two days, next Monday and Tuesday, in the Coogan Place carpark, off Hurley Street.
It will offer the free check ups between 9.30am and 3.30pm on those days (April 22 and 23).
“Don’t hesitate to give 10 minutes of your busy day to get a free basic health screening,’’ urges the registered nurse who travels around NSW as part of the Mherv project.
“A brief health check at Mherv could be lifesaving.’’
Rotary Club of Campbelltown president Binod Paudel says the service club is proud to host the free men’s health check-up clinic, which provides “an invaluable opportunity for individuals to prioritize their health and wellbeing’’.
Binod says Rotary Campbelltown is grateful to the Rotary Club of Warners Bay, Mherv, the NSW Department of Health and Electrodry for their support in making this free service possible for the men of Campbelltown.
“I also wish to acknowledge the support and suggestions of the Campbelltown City Council in providing the venue for the event,’’ he said.
The Mherv project has been instrumental in saving more than 450 lives over the past five years through its provision of free basic health checks.
The registered nurse on board the mobile health clinic is available to assess blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels, as well as engage in a general quick chat about health concerns.
Mherv serves approximately 3500 patients a year, with a significant number of males presenting with undetected symptoms.
Around 40 percent of attendees require follow-up care with a GP.
