Meet junior international athletics champion Bryce Collins, 2024 Australia Day ambassador at Campbelltown.
Since starting little athletics at age 10, Bryce has forged his way to becoming a successful 400m hurdles athlete.
In 2014, he reached the semi-finals of the 2014 World Junior Championships, where he placed 17th in the world.
He is a three-time NSW Championships winner and has achieved a third place in the Australian Championships.
“We’re delighted to welcome Bryce Collins to Campbelltown, and I look forward to hearing about his journey when he joins us to host our Australia Day award winners in Ingleburn,” Mayor George Greiss said.
In addition to his accomplishments as an athlete, Collins has had a successful career as a civil engineer, working on a range of city-shaping projects.
He has represented the NSW Government as an Australia Day ambassador since 2018.
He has also spoken at multiple schools about his passion for his sport and the importance for taking opportunities across a range of different activities.
Australia Day in Campbelltown on Friday, January 26 will begin with the announcement of the 2024 citizen of the year award recipients during a civic ceremony hosted by Mayor Greiss at the Greg Percival Community Centre, Ingleburn from 9am.
The civic event will be followed by two citizenship ceremonies in which 160 Campbelltown residents will receive their Australian citizenship.
A free community event will be held at Koshigaya Park from 4pm to 9pm featuring a range of live stage entertainment, kids activity stations, food trucks and free carnival rides.
A spectacular fireworks display will round off the evening at 9pm.
