Firearms, knuckle dusters seized from Harrington Park house

Police have seized multiple weapons following a search of home in the Camden area and a man has appeared in court to face numerous charges.

Firearms, knifes, knuckle dusters and ammunition were among the items seized by officers attached to Camden Police Area Command who executed a firearm prohibition order compliance search at a residence on Westwood Court, Harrington Park last week.

All of the items were seized for forensic examination.

Following inquiries, police arrested an 18-year-old man the next day.

He was charged with 10 offences , including two counts of possessing an unauthorised firearm and a firearm found at premises subject to prohibition order.

He was also charged with five counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without permit, use a prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order and possess, supply or make an explosive for an unlawful purpose.

The man was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court.

In a separate incident, a pedestrian has died a few days after being hit by a car in the Southern Highlands.

Emergency services responded to the Old Hume Highway, Mittagong, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle a week ago last Monday.

The 64-year-old man was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital.

The driver of a Toyota Yaris, a 65-year-old man, was uninjured.

Officers from The Hume Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police have been notified the man has now died in hospital.

As inquiries continue police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash – or has any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Mittagong Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
