The Macarthur FC Bulls in School program has received a significant boost thanks to new state government funding.
The four-year $14.5 million Football in Schools allocation is included in today’s NSW Budget.
Minns Government says it is delivering on its election commitment to partner with A-League clubs Macarthur FC and Western Sydney Wanderers to provide football, education and wellbeing programs in local schools for up to 40,000 children every year.
The program will feature a wide range of initiatives to get more students participating in sport, including targeted female, multicultural and all-abilities programs.
Macarthur FC chairman Gino Marra welcomed the funding.
“This commitment by the NSW Government into our Bulls in Schools and community program is a major investment into the future of South Western Sydney,” he said.
“The key pillars our community programs are health and wellbeing, education and inclusion.
“We are proud to have had more than 60,000 children take part so far in the Bulls in Schools program over the past four years. Well done to our Bulls team on the hard work rolling this program out.
“This commitment from the state government will significantly expand the scope of our program across our region.
“South Western Sydney is one of the fastest biggest multicultural regions in NSW, so thank you to the NSW Government for funding this great initiative,’’ Mr Marra said.
The new program will also have focus on education with after school homework clubs and sessions on health and the benefits of an active lifestyle.
The initiatives will be delivered both in-schools and on-site at the A-League club’s training facilities.
