The award winning Club Menangle JC Caffyn Indigenous Drivers Series returns for 2023 for another season.
Launched back in 2010, the series, which was originally held as a stand-alone invitational event, has proven to be a winner across the board and is now a prominent fixture on the NSW harness racing calendar.
With support from participating clubs, the 2023 Indigenous Drivers Series will hold up to seven penalty-free heats.
The final of the series will carry prize money of $25,000 and will be contested on the same race night as the inaugural $2.1 million TAB Eureka on Saturday, September 2 at the home of harness racing in the state, Club Menangle.
Club Menangle have thanked Harness Racing NSW for their continued support of the JC Caffyn Plate, which will see the final of this year’s series run on the same race program as the world’s richest harness race.
The first two heats will be conducted on July 18 at Young, before the series moves to Parkes for two heats on August 4.
The following two heats will take place in Newcastle on August 11.
Race conditions for all heats will be available via the Meeting Calendar on the harness.org.au website.
Winning drivers from each of the heats conducted at Young, Parkes and Newcastle will receive an invitation to contest the JC Caffyn Plate at Club Menangle.
The remaining drivers will be selected from drivers that participated in heats as per the points score previously used.
The 2022 winner, McKayler Barnes, pictured above with the drivers who took part in last year’s final, will receive an automatic qualification to the final.
