Thousands of very good boys and girls, and their owners, had a blast at Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park over the weekend at the popular dog-themed event, Paws in the Park.
The annual event kicked off with a two-kilometre dog walk before everyone enjoyed a sled dog demonstration and dog obedience sessions.
They also met Camden’s most famous pooch, Phoenix, and Farmer Dave (pictured at right), who brought his furry friend Jimmy.
The event’s competitions were as strong as ever, with prizes awarded for best trick, best golden oldie, best fancy dress, tallest dog and cutest face.
Flyball demonstrations, an agility obstacle course, dog-and-owner caricature drawings, face painting, a photobooth and the famous Paw-tastic parade were other highlights of this year’s day.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the event was a resounding success.
“Paws in the Park is one of the most eagerly awaited events on our annual calendar and 2023 definitely lived up to its expectations,” she said.
“We had locals as well as dog lovers from far and wide come down and enjoy the day.
“The caricature drawings and photo booth were a real hit and the competitions were incredibly pleasing to watch.
“I’d like to thank the community and everyone involved in making such a great event. We can’t wait to see you again in 2024.”
Camden Council also paw-ffered a big thank you to event sponsors Pet One Australia, National Companion Pets Institute, Macarthur Veterinary Group, The University of Sydney – Uni Vets Camden and Macarthur Lions Club.
