Local enthusiasts will get a chance to don their favourite super hero costumes and join a celebration of all things pop culture at Comic Book Day 2023 this Saturday.
From 10am to 3pm, attendees are invited to join a variety of exciting activities at HJ Daley Library, celebrating popular franchises and creative skills.
The popular Cosplay Competition will return this year at 12pm, giving participants a chance to show off their best costumes to a panel of guest judges.
Pre-registration, which opened last week will still be available on the day from 10am to 11.30am.
“This is a wonderful day for locals of all ages to come together and celebrate dedicated comic fans and subcultures that thrive in our community,” says Campbelltown Mayor George Greiss.
“Comic Book Day is just one of many popular initiatives our library team have supported in their ongoing efforts to create an inclusive and welcoming space for all,” Cr Greiss said.
Highlights of the day will include:
- Artist Alley with 16 talented artists;
- Superheroes versus villains drawing workshop with Matthew Lin;
- Musical performances from geek pop singer Meri Amber;
- Medieval Dance with Society for Creative Anachronism (ACA);
- Superhero Bingo and Marvel Trivia and Gaming Lounge.
For those looking to keep the action between the pages, free and discounted comic books will be offered to participants on the day, while stocks last.
A sausage sizzle and coffee van will also offer refreshments fit for a super hero, naturally, throughout the event.
