Local scouts could soon be off sailing, something they have never done before.
Camden Labor candidate Sally Quinnell has promised to deliver $40,000 for Razorback Venturers towards reinvigorating their outdoor equipment.
The funding will boost access to outdoor activities such as canoeing, camping and alpine and rock sports.
And by investing in both boats and skills training, the Razorback Venturers want to act as a base for sailing that can be offered to scouting groups across the district.
Ms Quinnell’s commitment was one of several made by candidates in the lead up to tomorrow’s NSW state election.
“The pandemic has been very disruptive for Razorback Venturers,’’ said Ms Quinnell, pictured above with Christopher Leech, the Razorback Venturers Leader.
“Kids don’t join Venturers to sit on zoom. They join to explore the outdoors and acquire leadership skills,’’ she said.
“I am thrilled that if elected on March 25, that this funding can go a small way in upgrading Razorback Venturers equipment, so existing and new scouts can explore fresh challenging adventures,’’ Ms Quinnell said.
Earlier in the week Ms Quinnell also announced another Labor commitment, $58,000 for Camden Tigers FC to host their popular Indigenous football gala day.

The Liberal Party candidate for Leppington, Therese Fedeli, and the Member for Camden, Peter Sidgreaves, have welcomed promised funding to the tune of $20,000 for Austral Gurudwara community’s Sikh Mission Centre if the Perrottet Government is returned.
The $20,000 would go towards the construction of a new dining hall to support the centre’s growing community.
“The Perrottet Liberal team, through supporting cultural and religious diversity, empowers our local community and makes NSW stronger,’’ Ms Fedeli said.
Mr Sidgreaves said that for decades the Sikh Mission Centre has been a strong part of community.
Sikh Mission Centre secretary Bawa Singh Jagdev also welcomed the commitment,
“Our centre is about bringing people from all walks of life together with our Sikh community,’’ he said.

Greg Warren, the sitting Labor MP in Campbelltown, announced a $300,000 commitment from a Minns Government for local charity We Are Community.
The money would go towards a trailer to further assist those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness throughout the Macarthur region and Liverpool.
The trailer will consist of two showers, four washing machines/dryers, a wardrobe with new clothes and underwear, and a commercial kitchen.
The trailer will enable the charity to expand its work within the community and further assist those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
It currently runs a range of services including weekly breakfasts and dinners throughout the Macarthur region.
Members also conduct night patrols throughout Macarthur and Liverpool, and provide cooked meals, hampers, toiletries and essential items to those in need.
“This funding will make an enormous difference to the team at We Are Community and the people they service throughout Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly and Liverpool,’’ Mr Warren said.
The Campbelltown MP also announced that under a Minns Government the Campbelltown Senior Cyber Seekers (CSCS) would receive $30,000 for much-needed upgrades of the organisation’s computers.
“The Campbelltown Senior Cybers Seekers do a tremendous job assisting those who are not digitally proficient and this funding will make an enormous difference to the CSCS and its clients,” Mr Warren said.
