Police have released this CCTV footage as they renew their appeal for assistance to identify a man who may be able to assist with inquiries into an assault in Liverpool earlier this year.
A 46-year-old man was sitting at the Liverpool bus interchange about 2.30am on Monday, January 2, when he was punched repeatedly to the head and upper body.
He was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he was treated for facial and head injuries.
Officers from Police Transport Command (PTC) commenced an investigation into the incident and have made several public appeals for assistance.
As inquiries continue, police have now released further images of a man they believe can assist with their investigation.
The man is described to be aged in his 40s, of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, with a medium/stocky build and short black hair.
He is depicted in the CCTV vision as wearing a black-hooded jumper with red accents and a motif on the left chest area, black pants, black Nike ‘TN’ running shoes with white accents.
The man was carrying a black satchel and a fluorescent orange jumper.
Police Transport Command’s Inspector Natasha Telfer said the assault appeared to be unprovoked.
“The man was sitting waiting for a bus along with several people other people, when he was approached and assaulted, apparently without warning,” Insp Telfer said.
“We’ve conducted exhaustive inquiries into this incident, and we believe the man depicted in this CCTV may be able to assist with the ongoing investigation.
“We know there were several other people in the area at the time, and I hope someone will be able to provide that crucial piece of information to investigators.
“Even when a victim has physically recovered, the consequences of assaults such as these can be life-changing, mentally and emotionally.”
