A man will face court next month charged over a fatal crash where human remains were located along a highway in the Macarthur region.
About 1pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, officers from Campbelltown Police Area Command conducted a search of the north bound lanes of the Hume Highway, Narellan, after receiving a report that a person had possibly been hit by a truck earlier in the week.
During the search human remains were located.
A crime scene was established that was examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Significant traffic delays were subsequently experienced.
Police say that following extensive inquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Wednesday, December 14) at Albury Police Station.
It will be alleged the Wirlinga man was the driver of a prime mover that collided with a 30-year-old man on the roadway and failed to stop.
The man was charged with failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death.
He was further charged with driving in a dangerous manner.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
