The inaugural Festival of Football was a big hit with the Macarthur community, and the second one should be just as popular.
Brenden Broadbent, deputy director of the Camden Tigers Indigenous Football Program (IFP), says the success of the first is set to flow on to the second one, scheduled for Saturday, January 21.
“We are very excited and looking forward to another big day following the 2022 success,’’ says Mr Broadbent.
“We didn’t think the Festival of Football would have such an impact.
“We now have interest from some big sporting identities, and not just from Macarthur but all over the country.
“We hope we can get their support for the Festival of Football and the IFP,” he said.
The IFP at the Camden Tigers FC was established last year to help promote indigenous football, as well as community awareness.
“The Festival of Football day is a big part of our focus at the Camden Tigers IFP,’’ he said.
“The IFP and the Tigers have been working overtime to make the Festival of Football the launch pad for a successful year promoting Indigenous football.
“We have a very big calendar for the year, including some new football initiatives,’’ Mr Broadbent said.
In 2022 the Camden Tigers IFP program included a successful schools intervention program.
The IFP, through community initiatives, have also built a partnership with the Local Area Police Command over the past 12 months.
“Here at the IFP our motto is we build bridges – not brick walls,” Mr Broadbent said.
