A proposal for a $5.1 million riverside recreational network that will connect the Nepean River to Camden Town Centre is now on public exhibition.
It will see the development of a recreational network completing missing links and creating several route options connecting the Nepean River to Camden’s main street via the Camden Town Farm, Fergusons Land and the Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park.
The project will include a walkway along the Nepean River, viewing platforms along the waterway and a public art trail.
Other features are a heritage and environmental interpretation along the route and works to support the agricultural operations at the Camden Town Farm such as fencing and stock gates.
Landscaping works including tree planting, park furniture and wayfinding signage, exercise equipment to support active recreation at Fergusons Land cricket facility will also be part of work.
The project, funded by the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Project, will also realise objectives identified as part of the Camden town centre urban design framework.
Once complete, the project will enhance the community’s connection with the iconic Nepean River, says Therese Fedeli, the Mayor of Camden.
“Council is focused on providing the community with another fantastic walking track around one of our biggest assets in the Nepean River,” Cr Fedeli said.
“This project is about providing high quality open space for the Camden community to enjoy and there is no better place than along the Nepean.’’
Cr Fedeli said it was important to have community feedback on the exciting project.
“I encourage residents to have their say on the project as council puts together plans,” she said.
The project is on public exhibition until January 13, 2023.
