Greg Percival Library patrons will soon benefit from their own suite of creative tools.

A new space hosting a creative studio will be launched on Saturday, October 29, from 10am to 12pm.

The Ingleburn library move follows on from the success of HJ Daley library’s creative studio.

The Greg Percival library’s space will focus on podcasts and virtual reality, with a suite of industry-standard microphones, headphones and recording gear for members to use.

The space is also equipped with a VR headset giving members the chance to explore virtual reality content.

“Our libraries are dedicated to providing our community with the latest tools and resources they need, especially in the growing digital space,” says Campbelltown Mayor George Greiss.

“This latest Creative Studio allows anyone in our community to get hands-on with podcasting and audio technologies from the comfort of their local library,” he said.

The official launch event will highlight many of the new creative studio’s features, giving participants the chance to participate in a podcast, experience the virtual reality headset, attend a sewing machine display, explore a cultural and linguistic diversity display, with chess activities, balloon play and temporary tattoos to entertain families.

The studio will be open to the community from October 29 and can be booked with a library card. Details on council’s website.

Art on the street in Camden exhibition

The local environment is taking centre stage in Camden town centre with the rollout this month of the Kerbside exhibition – connecting with nature.

Created to encourage a return to public spaces and enliven the public streetscape, the curated street exhibition features winning and highly commended works from the 2021 Macarthur nature photography and 2021 and 2022 Threatened Species art and writing competitions.

The works will be display on guard rails, planter boxes, bus shelters and bins along Argyle, Mitchell and Murray Streets.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the exhibition was the perfect way to enliven public spaces to re-emerge, celebrate and engage with the community through art.

“Camden is home to many talented artists and the Camden kerbside exhibition gives them all a platform to show their beautiful works,” Cr Fedeli said.

“There were so many fantastic artworks and images that were submitted into both competitions, and I am glad that that a selection will provide a colourful streetscape for both locals and visitors as they venture through Camden Town Centre.’’
