Macarthur FC have made another canny recruiting move, with experienced English Premier League defender Adrian Mariappa joining the herd.
Mariappa has amassed more than 150 Premier League appearances with Watford, Reading and Crystal Palace.
The impressive defender joins the Bulls from Bristol City. He will bring to the Bulls squad both Premier League and international experience.
Mariappa made his international debut in 2012, and since then has made 57 appearances for Jamaica. He has also captained his country on seven occasions.
“I’m thrilled that the club has been able to secure a player of Adrian’s quality and experience,’’ says Macarthur FC head coach Ante Milicic.
“Although he has never played A-League before, I’m most certain he will make a seamless adjustment given the career he has had so far.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Adrian settle into the squad and contribute to the team throughout this season.’’
The Bulls have shown in their two matches so far that they could set the standard for defence in the A-League in the 2021-22 season.
Adding Adrian Mariappa to the mix is certain to make them even stronger defensively.
The man himself says he is excited to be joining the Bulls and playing in the A-League for the first time.
“I want to thank the owners and the football staff for having faith in me and making this happen,’’ said the 35 year old.
“When the opportunity to join the Bulls arrived, it was one I couldn’t turn down. It’s an exciting new challenge for me in my career and that for me is what I thrive off.
“I’m hungry to achieve great things with the club and create new memories with the team and the fans.”
