Greg Warren has weighed in on a bid to increase the number of dwellings in a Menangle Park development.
NSW Planning will be responsible for green lighting or rejecting plans to increase a development in Menangle Park to 5,250 dwellings, an increase of 1,850 homes.
The state member for Campbelltown said that to preserve the existing lifestyle current residents enjoy, it’s crucial any increase in dwellings is matched by an increase in infrastructure.
He said that the infrastructure needed to cater for the large development in Menangle Park included electrification of the train line south of Macarthur train station and south bound on and off ramps at the Menangle Road and Hume Highway junction.
The creation of dedicated parking bays at Menangle train station, additional parking at Macarthur and Campbelltown train stations would also be needed.
Appropriate upgrades and creation of public school infrastructure, the establishment of a local public bus service and appropriately staffed and resourced local health services were also on his list.
“Particularly in the Macarthur region, infrastructure has failed miserably to keep pace with development,” said Mr Warren, pictured at Menangle Park.
“The electrification of the rail line south of Macarthur train station and south bound entry and exit ramps at the Menangle Road and Hume Highway junction are necessities.
“The Berejiklian Government must also explain how it plans to cater for the educational needs of future students as well as the increase in demand on public transport and health services.
“Schools, public transport and the local health system have been neglected by the state government for the past nine years and the ripple effects are being felt throughout the entire Macarthur region.
“Developers deliver housing estates but it is the government’s mission to create sustainable, resilient and resourceful communities.
“You achieve that by ensuring residents have access to adequate health, education, roads and transport services.”
