If you are stuck at home, alone, here’s a suggestion: adopt a cat or a dog from the Animal Care Facility (ACF).
The facility is currently closed to the public but people interested in adopting an animal can fill out an expression of interest form at Campbelltown Council’s website and ACF staff will be in touch to arrange an appointment to meet their prospective fur baby.
Appointment availability is currently limited so people are asked to be patient until staff make contact.
“Now is a great time to adopt a cat or a dog while you’re working from home or practising social distancing,” says Mayor George Brticevic.
“Animals make fantastic companions and can have a really positive impact on your mental health,” Cr Brticevic said.
“Our staff do a fantastic job of caring for these animals and we’re proud of the number of animals we’ve been able to find a new home for in recent weeks,” he said.
Due to the facility being almost at capacity, council has made the difficult decision to stop accepting surrenders and strays from the public unless the animal is considered a threat to community safety.
The facility will accept surrenders and strays again as soon as possible.
